Angela Gurría (Mexico City, 1929) is a fundamental figure when understanding the transition from modern art to contemporary art, as well as monumental sculpture in Mexico. In 1974 she became a member of the National Academy of Arts, being the first woman accepted by said institution, and throughout the following years presented important exhibitions in
Museum of Modern Art (Mexico City, the Palacio de Bellas Artes Museum and the Federico Silva Museum to name just a tew.

It invites an introspective contemplation, revealing the plurality of styles used by the artist, oscillating between cubism and surrealism. Delicate lines and sculptural volumes intertwine to create a dialogue between humans and nature, highlighting the beauty of coral reefs and their vitality.
Through this work, Audrey not only celebrates the magnificence of corals; she also raises a crucial question about their survival in the face of contemporary threats such as global warming and pollution. The corals, true treasures of the oceans, are considered here not only as aesthetic elements, but also as symbols of resilience and fragility. Their structural complexity and delicate ramifications are skillfully integrated into the face, creating a powerful metaphor for the union between man and nature.

Using 78,000 mother-of-pearl shells arranged in the shape of a soaring wave, designer Mohamed Alqari (@mohd_algari) tips his hat to Bahrain’s pearling legacy and natural landscape.
This is Obica (@obicabahrain), a sprawling restaurant and lounge is located in Adliya, a bustling district in Bahrain’s capital city. Inside this new destination, there’s nowhere to hide from glitz and glam: A ceiling decked in sparkling hexagonal mirror mosaic and a magnificent chandelier of 78,000 mother-of-pearl shells - inspired by Verner Panton - combine with bespoke decorative elements in deep jewel tones, such as burgundy and emerald green, and richly veined marble (over 400 pieces were cut and installed just for the ground floor reception area) that runs wall to wall.
« The design combines palatial luxury and cultural depth, creating a space that is both grand and immersive, » says Mohamed Alqari, founder of the studio Qreative Design (@qreative.design).

Cet ambassadeur de l’élégance à la française, qui habite l’ancien appartement de Colette à Paris, sait en effet teinter ses décors d’accords subtils. É fácil reconhecer os trabalhos de Querubim Lapa em Lisboa, lembra o especialista José Meco, porque foi um criador muito original. Um artista que compreendia a arquitectura como poucos, diz a historiadora de arte
Rita Gomes Ferrão.
Nasceu em Portimão em 1925. Licenciou-se em Escultura e Pintura pela Faculdade de Belas Artes de Lisboa. Lecionou na Escola Industrial Machado de Castro e na Escola de Artes Decorativas António Arroio.
Em 1964 integrou o Conselho Técnico da SNBA. Foi por diversas vezes premiado e conta com uma série de exposições regulares desde 1942 até à atualidade.
Pintor, escultor e ceramista, Querubim surge associado ao neorrealismo português, movimento surgido na década de 30 do século XX, com uma ideologia marcadamente antifascista que procurava uma ponte entre a luta política e cultural que se vivia em Portugal, durante o Estado Novo. O seu trabalho atual caminha para a depuração e simplificação das formas e das cores. Faleceu em Lisboa em Maio de 2016.
